The 5 most common MSL interview questions

You can't avoid it, most MSL interviews will have some standard (MSL) interview questions. If you want to make a good first impression you need to have

1) Please take us through your CV and highlight the parts most relevant to this MSL role

2) How would you describe the MSL role or How does the MSL role differ from a sales representative role?

3) Why would we hire  you? or What are your skills and competencies that would make you a good MSL?

4) Why did you apply to this company? or What do you know about our company?

5) Can you share a conflict with us and how you handled this? (always use S.T.A.R when you answer this questions. The Situation I was in..., my Task was..., my Actions were..., the Results was....)

Having a clear understanding of the MSL role, throughout the life cycle of a product, and understanding the value that an MSLs bring to internal/external stakeholders is a key part of the first interview round. If you can't confidently and succinctly answer the above 5 questions, you will NOT make it past the first round, and you'll hear the "excuse" phrase "sorry, you don't have MSL experience". Which is actually a polite way to say to you that you hadn't prepared well enough, because they knew form your CV/LinkedIn profile that did not have any MSL experience, but you looked interesting enough to give you 30min airtime. In short you blew it!
